An attenuator 120 for an aircraft cable 116a, 116b comprising a housing 200, the housing includes a first 210 and second end 224 wherein the first end of the housing defines a first cable opening 214, the first cable opening includes a first portion with a first diameter and a second portion with a second diameter, the second diameter being less than the first diameter; and a plunger 202 having a head 220 and shaft 222 extended from the head, the head being located in the housing and biased 204 toward the first end of the housing. Additional disclosed is an ejection seat having a seat back and an arm restraint coupled to the seat back and an arm restraint assembly for an ejection seat comprising; a primary arm configured to pivot about a primary arm pivot joint; wherein the ejection seat and seat back comprise the attenuator 120 (figure 1b).
