A spar-type floating offshore wind turbine assembly 10, method of support in a transport configuration and assembly. Buoyant upthrust is applied to the assembly by partial immersion of a spar buoy 14 at a lower end of the assembly and at least partial immersion of a discrete support buoy(s) 32 attached to the spar buoy at a position offset longitudinally from the lower end. An upper structure 16 and the spar buoy are joined with a brace 42 that acts between. The upper structure comprises a mast 18 that is cantilevered from an upper end of the spar buoy. Preferably, the aggregate upthrust acting on the spar buoy and the support buoy(s) substantially equates to the entire weight of the assembly. Member(s) of the brace may be placed under tension and anchored to the spar buoy and/or to the upper structure. A suspension force may be applied to the upper structure through the brace from above the upper structure. Preferably the assembly is upended from the transport configuration by ballasting the spar buoy with water 70 in tank 30 and rotating the assembly about the support buoy(s) as the longitudinal axis approaches an upright orientation.
