An attachment for a forklift truck 1 has a lifting beam 100 connectable at one end to a framework (2 fig.1) supporting lifting forks (3 fig.1), 4. Said end is configured to be clampable to the framework when the forks are closed, possibly by clamping over a cross or T shaped end at the end of the beam which may include plate formed of side extensions 101a. Plate 101b may also be fitted at the same end of the beam acting as a stop mechanism against cross members 2a, 2b when aligning the beam to the forklift prior to clamping. A hook (H fig.1) may be attached to the other end of the beam. The forklift is driven up to the attachment to an engagement position with the forks open and then the forks closed to clamp the lifting beam in place. The forks do not have to be removed to attach the lifting beam and the operator does not have to exit the cab.
