The female part of the ball spindle joint is a through hole 2, the through hole being split into a first 3, a second 4 and a third region 5 by boundaries 2B, 2C, characterised in that the diameter of the second region 4 is greater than the third region 5, forming a clearance gap 14 between the shaft 29 of the ball spindle 21 and the second region 4 of the through hole 2. Thus, the shaft 29 is in contact with the wall of the through hole at the first 3 and the third region 5. The first region 3 is the primary load bearing feature, and the third region 5 secondary. When a load (fig 6, JF) is applied to the ball 31 of the ball spindle 21, causing a moment (fig 6, M), the third region 5 may induce a counter force (fig 6, CRF) to balance the moment. A fourth region 6 may form a second clearance gap (fig 5, 16) to prevent damaging the threads 38.
