A system for attaching an accessory (e.g. shelving 200, fig 2) to a motor vehicle body panel comprising an inner panel 12 and an outer panel 14, involves passing a fixation plate 100 through an access hole 30 in the inner panel 12, aligning a fixation feature with a clearance hole 20, and coupling a fastener to the fixation plate 100 through the clearance hole 20. The fixation feature may clip into the fixation plate (fig 3) or formed in the plate (fig 5b). The plate can have, multiple fixation features, cut outs (610, fig 6a), and permanent clips or temporary fasteners to the inner panel 12. A kit of parts includes alignment tools (1210, fig 12) which can be rods with coupling features.
