A tank suitable for containing liquid hydrogen and suitable for use on a high altitude long endurance aircraft, wherein the tank has a non-spherical external surface 1 and at least one liquid hydrogen storage chamber 2 having at least one opening 3, where the internal hydrogen storage facing surface, which may comprise a hydrogen-impermable layer 5, forms an elongate body with two ends, defining an axis 7. At least one end of the elongate body is arranged so that the ratio of the diameter where the angle of the tank wall to the axis is 45 degrees to the maximum diameter, dmax, d45, is less than equal to 2/3, preferably less than 1/2. In some embodiments the tank is elliptical
