A method for controlling an energy terminal, such as an electric vehicle (EV) battery, a solar (PV) panel, or a heat pump, comprises determining a metric indicating a future availability of an energy resource, such as electricity, at an energy terminal based on usage data associated to use of the energy resource by the energy terminal, generating control data to control the distribution of the energy resource between the energy terminal and an energy infrastructure, such as an electrical utility grid, based on the metric, and communicating the control data to the energy terminal. The system may be used to control a vehicle to grid (V2G) system by predicting the availability of electricity from vehicle batteries based on predicted user behavior based on historic user behaviour. The state of charge (SOC) and degradation of batteries may be taken into account in the model.
