Apparatus for variably partitioning a fixed volume of internal space between two compartments, each differently internally equipped for a specific purpose. The apparatus comprises one or more telescopic sections 405, 406 which can extend to a variable degree within a fixed outer surface 401 enclosing at least the fixed volume. The internal space may be within the body of a vehicle, such as for transporting horses, goods or bicycles. The internal space may instead be a shipping container or a room within a building. A partition between horse stalls may be foldable such that it can be shortened to be stowed across the horsebox. A portion of an end wall of a telescopic section may open to provide access to a further portion of the volume. A brush or plate may be fixed to a telescopic section so as to push material (such as straw or faeces) into a define space as it moves.
