A tubular handling apparatus 100 comprises a lay tower 2a mounted to a support structure, and a hoist 8 configured to lift objects. The lay tower is movable between a first position, at which the hoist is on a first side of the lay tower (see figure 10), and a second position, at which the hoist is on a second side of the lay tower (see figure 13) opposite the first side. In use, the hoist is attached to an object 3 and then lifted such that it is suspended by the hoist. The lay tower is then moved to the second position to move the attached object. The lay tower can be moved to a third position in which the lay tower described a firing line, the tower being pivotable from the first position to the second position via the third position. The lay tower can be mounted to the support structure via an articulated linkage which comprises an extendable member 51. The linkage can further comprise a first member that interconnects the extendable member and the support structure, and a second member that interconnects the first member and the lay tower.
