An apparatus and method 300 for determining a temperature characteristic at a first location on a wheel 104 or a brake assembly 200 of an aircraft landing gear 102. The apparatus comprises a processor configures to determine the temperature characteristic at the first location using relationship information based on a first temperature at a second location 104 of the wheel or the brake assembly of the landing gear, the relationship information representing a relationship between the temperature characteristic at the first location and the first temperature, allowing the first temperature to be estimated. Also disclosed is a method to determine the relationship information between the first and second locations and an apparatus for determining a plurality of temperature parameters at a first location. The first location may be a fuse plug 220a of a tyre 204 of the landing gear and the second location may be a brake disk 202 of a brake assembly of the landing gear.
