A bicycle carrier 10 for supporting an electric bicycle 40 on or in a vehicle 30. The bicycle carrier comprises a frame 12 having one or more frame sections arranged to support the electric bicycle on the frame, the frame being mountable to the vehicle to support the frame on or in the vehicle, and an electrical connector 18 attached to the frame, the electrical connector having first electrical coupling means 20 that are electrically connectable to an electrical power source and second electrical coupling means 22 that are electrically connectable to the electric bicycle. The electrical connector facilitates the passage of an electrical charge to the electric bicycle when the first electrical coupling means are electrically connected to the electrical power source, the second electrical coupling means are electrically connected to the electric bicycle, the electric bicycle is supported on the frame and the frame is supported on or in the vehicle. The invention may also include a lock controller for controlling the electricity flow dependent on lock status. The charging means may be inductive. The invention also relates to a method of controlling a state of charge of an electric bicycle.
