An armrest table (e.g. for a train or an aircraft) has an armrest casing (10, figure 14) comprising an inner space for moving a frontward-moving stand (20) into and out of the casing (10) through a front opening. The fore-aft linearly moving stand (20) has an inner space for vertically moving at least one panel assembly (30) upward and downward relative to the stand (20) through a top opening. Each panel assembly (30) comprises a first plate 31 pivotably mounted on the stand (20), and a second plate 32 connected to the first plate 31. When the front-moving stand is moved forward, protruding to an outermost extent, the at least one table panel assembly is moved upward, protruding to an uppermost extent, and the panel assembly laterally pivots into a horizontal position, and expands till the desktop surfaces of the first 31 and second 32 plates are side by side horizontally. The first and second plates overlap when retracted. The second plate 32 may tilt or pivot relative to the first plate 31. Alternatively, the first plate 31 may comprise a receiving space therein, and the second plate 32 may move parallel to the first plate to be received therein.
