An electric self-balancing vehicle having a load bearing structure with a first platform 12 joined to a second platform 13 by a rotatable bearing 40 so as to define a first and a second side respectively, the rotatable bearing 40 being arranged such that the first platform 12 and the second platform 13 are independently rotatable about an axis. The electric self-balancing vehicle also having a first casing 14, a first and second wheel 30 rotatably mounted to opposing outer edges of the load bearing structure, a first and second motor 20 attached to each wheel 30, a plurality of sensors 50,56 disposed between the load bearing structure and the first casing 14, a battery 60 disposed between the load bearing structure and the first casing 14 and a control board 70 disposed between the load bearing structure and the first casing 14. The vehicle is characterised by the battery 60 and controller 70 being located in the same half of the vehicle. This is said to minimise the number of wires required to run between the halves of the vehicle, and thereby improve reliability over the prior art.
