The wing (fig.1A,10) comprises a fixed wing (fig.1A,14) and a wing tip device (fig.1A,12) movable between a flight position and a ground position, in which the span of wing is reduced; the wing tip is locked in the flight position by a locking mechanism 20 having a cylindrical locking pin 22, located on either the fixed wing or the wing tip device, and a U-shaped locking member 24, located on the other, where the locking member 24 is rotated around the locking pin 22 to lock the wing tip. Preferably the wing has many locking members (fig.7) each with toothed outer surfaces 30 associated with a toothed actuators 32 which may be simultaneously driven to move the locking members through 180 degrees. Preferably each locking member 24 is located in a housing 28 in the fixed wing, each with a landing support 40 for the locking pin extending through a slot in the locking mechanism. There may be a secondary locking mechanism (fig.4,36) to prevent rotation of the locking member when it is in a locked position. A method of locking and unlocking a wing tip device on an aircraft is also claimed.
