A method comprising receiving image data from at least one camera 110 of a vehicle, determining a geographic position 112 of the vehicle, determining based on the image and position data of the vehicle a location of an inductive loop (208, fig. 2) in a roadway (200) proximate to the vehicle, and storing data associated with the location of the inductive loop in a storage device within the vehicle. Further provided is an apparatus to carry out such a method. Also provided is a method comprising receiving information identifying a plurality of induction loops in the proximity of the vehicle, determining whether a current trajectory of the vehicle will activate a first inductive loop being approached by the vehicle, and if it will not, adjusting the vehicles trajectory to enable activation of the first inductive loop.
