An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) (fig.1,100) has a gas turbine engine (GTE) (fig.4,120) at least partially within a body (fig.1,110) with wings (fig.1,130) coupled to it, and a number of air ducts 140, preferably two. Each air duct has an inlet 141 outside of the body to receive air, and an outlet (fig.,142) at an inlet of the GTE to discharge air into the GTE inlet. An exterior surface of the body may be cylindrical about a longitudinal axis, with the wings coupled at a tangent, and the air ducts circumscribing part of the exterior surface, preferably at the same longitudinal position as the wings, to receive air from a direction parallel to the axis to ram air into the GTE inlet. The air ducts may have an inlet open area of between 5000 to 6000mm2, which is greater than the outlet open area, with the cross-section of the duct decreasing monotonically from the inlet to the outlet. The body may have a fuel tank for GTE fuel, and an area for carrying a payload.
