A prefabricated rail support module 10 has a resilient sleeve 14 within a recess 12, for holding a portion of a dowel 18, and a void 20 with a channel 22 between the void and an upper face of the module; in use modules are connected in series (fig.1b) to form a rail support by positioning modules 10,10’ so that a dowel held by the resilient sleeve extends into the void of the adjacent module, filling the void by pouring cementitious grout into the channel and fixing the dowel in place. A kerb (38, figure 4) can engage the steering mechanism of a guided bus). Preferably, a longitudinal groove (fig.3,32) in the modules upper face has lateral slots for rail clips (fig.3,34); a two-rail track may be formed using pair of rail supports, kept parallel using tie bars fixed via threaded eyes (fig.2,28) on the sides of the modules. Compressible spacers (fig.1b,16) may be provided on the end faces; a grouting hole (fig.5,40) may be provided through the module; the void and recess may be in the form of slots for use with a plate connector.
