A pneumatic system for a pneumatic actuator is provided. The pneumatic system 101 comprises: a housing 21, defining a volume, comprising a first port 27 and a second port 28; a repository tank 40, for storing compressed gas, pneumatically connected to the housing 21 via second port 28; a pressure regulator 50, pneumatically connected to the repository tank 40 and pneumatically connected to the housing 21 via the second port 28, configured to output compressed gas at a threshold pressure to the repository tank 40 and to the second port 28 of the housing 21; and a pneumatic actuator 20, separating the volume of the housing 21 into a first variable sub-volume 22 and a second variable sub-volume 24. The actuator 20 is configured to: respond to compressed gas input into the first port 27 increasing the pressure in the first variable sub-volume 22 above the threshold pressure, by moving from a first position in the housing 21 to a second position in the housing and by urging compressed gas from the second variable sub-volume 24 and into the repository tank 40 via the second port 28; and respond to a reduction in pressure in the first variable sub-volume 22 below the threshold pressure, by moving from the second position to the first position, causing entry of compressed gas into the second variable sub-volume 24 from the repository tank 40 via the second port 28. Corresponding methods, and pneumatic devices are also disclosed.
