PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve accuracy of discrimination whether or not a collision body with a front bumper is a pedestrian.SOLUTION: In an absorber 30 mounted to a front bumper 12 provided with a pedestrian collision detection device 10, a front end 34A of a spacer portion 34 is positioned closer to a rear side of a vehicle than a front end 32A of a main body portion 32, and an opening portion 28 is provided on a connection portion 36 connecting the spacer portion 34 and the main body portion 32. On this account, when the front bumper 12 collides with a pedestrian, the connection portion 36 is easily deformed. Accordingly, the spacer portion 34 is displaced to the rear side of the vehicle, and deformation of a chamber member 20 can be increased. Therefore, a difference between output values of a pressure detector 24 when the front bumper 12 collides with the pedestrian and when the front bumper 12 collides with an object body other than the pedestrian can be increased. Consequently, accuracy of discrimination whether or not a collision body with the front bumper 12 is the pedestrian can be improved.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
