A system is provided for an aircraft. This aircraft system includes a powertrain (10), a lubrication system (84) and a casing (106). The powertrain (10) includes a powerplant (56), a power transmission (58), a clutch system and a bladed rotor (18). The power transmission (58) operatively couples the powerplant (56) to the clutch system. The clutch system operatively couples the power transmission (58) to the bladed rotor (18). The powerplant (56) is configured to drive rotation of the bladed rotor (18) through the power transmission (58) and the clutch system when the clutch system is engaged. The lubrication system (84) includes a lubricant reservoir (88) and a lubricant circuit (90). The lubrication system (84) is configured to direct lubricant from the lubricant reservoir (88) to the powerplant (56) and the power transmission (58) through the lubricant circuit (90). The casing (106) houses the power transmission (58) and the lubricant reservoir (88).
