Method for inspecting a battery of a vehicle, this method executing a first step (E0) comprising, after the vehicle has been started up, a second substep: - applying in succession a plurality of electrical stresses to the battery each causing current to be drawn, - then determining a pair of values comprising a voltage (Umin) and an internal resistance (Rint) of the battery, on the basis of each current drawn, the first step (E0) executing, consecutively to the second substep, a third substep, characterised in that this third substep determines a status (STATUT) for each pair of values, this status taking a state that is: - unreliable (STNF) if the current drawn as a result of the electrical stress was too low with respect to a predefined threshold in an allowed time, - reliable (STF) if the current drawn as a result of the electrical stress was higher than or equal to the predetermined threshold in this allowed time.
