The device (100) also comprises at least one determination unit (130) which is designed to determine, on the basis of an internal resistance of the secondary cells (300) in the at least one cell module (120), a mechanical stress (200) in the secondary cells (300) at different times, a first value of the internal resistance corresponding to a first state of the mechanical stress (200) and a second value of the internal resistance, which is greater than the first value of the internal resistance, corresponding to a second state of the mechanical stress (200) which is greater than the mechanical stress (200) in the first state.
