A vacuum suction gripper head for robotic apparatus includes a plurality of vacuum cups 24, each operable to transfer objects from a moving conveyor. The gripper head block 10 is internally formed with a plurality of discrete passageways 14, each of which is connected at one end to receive gas under pressure from a source remote from the gripper head, and via inlet chamber 12, and to discharge said gas through an opening remote from said one end. At least one vacuum generator cartridge 16 arranged in pairs, are located within passageway s 14 and in the path of pressurised gas; each operable to generate within respective vacuum cups 24 a vacuum for enabling the transfer of objects from a conveyor to a container positioned alongside said container. Cartridges 16 have a threaded end 18 connected to an internal thread holder 20. Filter units 26 may be positioned between suction cups 24 and block 10. The gripper head 10 may be produced by 3D printing or other suitably lightweight material.
