The invention relates to a self-cleaning vehicle sensor system comprising: at least one pane which is at least partially light-transmissive, in particular transparent; at least one sensor arranged behind the window pane; the invention relates to a vehicle sensor system comprising at least one sensor for detecting dirt on a window pane, a window pane cleaning device arranged at least partially in front of the window pane, the at least one sensor being configured to detect dirt on the window pane, and a computing unit connected to the at least one sensor, the calculation unit is configured to calculate the position of dirt on the window pane by means of a sensor signal emitted by the sensor and to output a targeted control signal to the window pane cleaning device according to the calculated position. Wherein the window cleaning device is configured to emit a cleaning jet formed by a fluid medium, the direction of which can be varied in a targeted manner, and wherein the direction of the cleaning jet is defined as a function of a control signal of the computing unit for the targeted removal of dirt.
