A hybrid assembly comprising:a metallic component (106) having a first coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), said metallic component comprising:an outer wall of a first retaining feature; andan undercut shape (202) formed exterior to said outer wall of said first retaining feature such that there is a groove between said outer wall of said first retaining feature and said undercut shape (202); anda composite component having a second CTE, said second CTE different from said first CTE, wherein said metallic component (106) including said groove is at least partially within said composite component when said composite component is being formed, such that said difference in said first CTE and said second CTE causes said groove between said outer wall of said first retaining feature and said undercut shape (202) of said metallic component (106) to contract about said composite component to provide a compression to a portion of said composite component within said groove.
