A method of controlling an automobile (1) includes a first deceleration step of decelerating the automobile (1) at a first deceleration using a braking mechanism (11) when detecting that a parking brake switch (EPB switch 2) is turned on, a second deceleration step of decelerating the automobile (1) using the braking mechanism (11) at a second deceleration, which is smaller than the first deceleration, when not detecting that the parking brake switch (2) is turned on and determining that the driver is incapacitated, and a third deceleration step of decelerating the automobile (1) using the braking mechanism (11) at a third deceleration, which is smaller than the first deceleration, when determining that an SOS switch (3) is turned on, detecting that the parking brake switch (2) is changed from on to off, and not determining that the driver is incapacitated.
