The invention relates to an apparatus (2) designed for identifying initial disconnection of a plug connection, wherein the plug connection is changed from a connected state to a disconnected state in the event of the initial disconnection, having two plug connectors (4, 6) which are compatible with one another, specifically a first plug connector (4) and a second plug connector (6), an indicator element (8) with a film-like carrier (10) composed of an insulating material, which indicator element is fixed in the first plug connector (4) and in the second plug connector (6) in the connected state, and two contact elements (12) which are connected or can be connected to one another via a first electrical bridge (14) and are configured in such a way that, during the course of the initial disconnection, at least a portion (A) of the film-like carrier (10) is displaced, the film-like carrier (10) is mechanically damaged and the connection between the two contact elements (12) via the electrical bridge (14) is changed, wherein this change is detected as an indication of the initial disconnection of the plug connection.
