The present invention relates to a method for controlling the charging of a rechargeable battery module that is applicable in the automotive industry, particularly for so-called ultra-fast charging stations. The charging method judiciously implements a dynamic programming optimization algorithm to generate an optimal charging plan. For this purpose, the method comprises steps of determining a segmenting (E01) of a charging range of the battery module in the form of a grid, calculating (E02) charging currents between each point of the grid, calculating (E03, E04) charging plans in order to attain each point in the grid, selecting (E05) an optimal charging plan according to optimization criteria in order to attain each point, then recording (E06) the charging current that will allow each point to be attained in accordance with the respective optimal plan in a current reference table.
