Method for controlling the position of a hydrofoil (1), such method providing for: a detection step, wherein three distance sensors (6) mechanically mounted on a hull (2) of the hydrofoil (1) in three separate positions detect three distances from the water surface and generate three corresponding distance signals (SD); a first calculation step, wherein an electronic control unit (7) receives the three distance signals (SD) and calculates a lying plane (PG) of the three distance sensors (6); a second calculation step, wherein the electronic control unit (7) compares the lying plane (PG) with a reference plane (PR) and calculates a movement position (PM) in which each appendage (4) is moved while the lying plane (PG) defined by the distance sensors (6) is substantially parallel to the reference plane (PR); a driving step, wherein the electronic control unit (7) generates a driving signal (SC) in order to drive the actuator means (5) to move each appendage (4) around a corresponding first rotation axis (Y) orthogonal to the main extension axis (X) of the hydrofoil (1) in order to reach the corresponding movement position (PM).
