A ram air turbine release system including a turbine (102) defining a rotational axis (104) including at least one notch (106) therein for receiving a plunger (108) to prevent rotation of the turbine mechanically by moving between a first position and a second position, and a first bearing system (116) contacting at least a portion of an outer surface of the plunger configured to reduce friction produced when the plunger moves between the first positon and the second position.
