The invention relates to a pneumatic control device (32.1) for a hydrodynamic retarder, with a working pressure connector (10) which is connected to a reservoir of the retarder, with at least one inlet valve (20) via which a working pressure line (8) leading to the working pressure connector (10) can be connected to a ventilation line (12) connected to a compressed air source (16), and with at least one outlet valve via which the working pressure line (8) can be connected to a ventilation line (14) connected to a ventilation outlet (18). In order to enable the retarder to be switched off particularly quickly and to reduce the probability of failure of the control device (32.1), two outlet valves (34, 36) connected in parallel are arranged in the control device, via which the working pressure line (8) is connectable with the ventilation line (14) .
