Hybrid multirotor aircraft (100) comprising : a frame (102) including a wing (108, 110, 112, 114); a battery (155) carried by the frame; a rotor (116, 124, 132, 140) coupled to the wing; a motor (120, 128, 136, 144) operatively coupled to the rotor; and a processor (156) operatively coupled to the motor, the processor being configured to: cause the motor to operate in a first motor operational state, the rotor to operate in a first rotor operational state when the motor is operating in the first motor operational state; and to cause the motor to switch from operating in the first motor operational state to a second motor operational state, to cause the rotor to operate in a second rotor operational state when the motor is in operating in the second motor operational state, and to cause the motor to provide electrical energy to the battery in the second motor operational state and the rotor to autorotate in the second rotor operational state during flight of the aircraft.
