Examples described herein relate to a method for controlling a hose tension in an air-to-air refueling (AAR) operation from a tanker aircraft (5) to a receiver aircraft (10), the AAR operation performed with a refueling device system (15) which comprises a hose and drogue device for delivering fuel, extendable and retractable from and to the tanker aircraft (5) by a drum device (40), and a probe (30) on the receiver aircraft (10), extendable and retractable from and to the receiver aircraft (10) for receiving fuel, wherein the hose and drogue device includes a hose (20), a reception coupling unit (35) at the end of the hose (20) and a drogue (25) attached to the reception coupling unit (35).
