A drive system 51 according to an embodiment includes: an electric motor 53; first and second electrical contacts 181 and 182; and a microcontroller 71 to control an operation of the electric motor 53 in accordance with first and second signals 101 and 202 concerning the first and second electrical contacts 181 and 182. After determining that a first state where the first signal 201 and the second signal 202 both indicate OFF is detected, if it is determined that a second state where the first signal 201 and the second signal 202 both indicate ON is detected, the microcontroller 71 performs a control of causing the electric motor 53 to generate motive power. If it is determined that the first state is not detected, the microcontroller 71 does not perform a control of causing the electric motor 53 to generate motive power, even if both of the first electrical contact 181 and the second electrical contact 182 take an ON state.
