The invention relates to an electric break device (1) for a vehicle, containing an electric service brake device with a service break-activation device (2) which has a service break-activation element (3) and has the purpose of generating a service brake-request signal as a function of activation of the service break-activation element (3), as well as an electric parking brake device with a parking brake-activation device (98) which has a parking brake-activation element (102) which is separate from the service brake-activation element (3), said parking brake-activation device having the purpose of generating a parking brake-request signal as a function of activation of the parking brake-activation element (102). The invention provides that at least one control electronics unit (14; 96) is provided and designed in such a way that, when the electric service brake device is functional, said invention monitors, within the scope of an expanded parking brake function, the state of movement of the vehicle and the degree of activation (s) of the service brake-activation element (3) of the service break-activation device (2), and immediately generates an activation signal for the application of the parking brake if a stationary state of the vehicle is detected and if it is detected at the time (t1) when the stationary state of the vehicle is assumed or after this time (t1) that the service brake-activation element (3) has been activated by a predefined degree of activation(Δs) over and above the degree of activation (s1) which is present at the time (t1) of the stationary state of the vehicle or after this time (t1).
