Manufacturing a large-scale electronic display such as an advertising display board by constructing a chassis 900 providing structural strength for the display, mounting this on a transport jig 1500 and transporting it on the transport jig 1500 to an assembly line. The chassis 900 is moved on the transport jig 1500 along the assembly line and components for the display are fitted to the chassis 900 as it is moved along the assembly line, maintaining the is use orientation of the chassis throughout. The components are preferably replaceable, modular, sub-assemblies fitted into the chassis 900 from a front face of the display. The assembled display may remain on the transport jig 1500 for transport to a warehouse and/or to its eventual installation site which may be a bus stop. Also disclosed are means for lifting displays and means for transporting displays. The display may have a door which pivots about a cantilever style hinges, the display panel being connected to the hinges and brought away from the chassis when the door is opened. The display board may comprise back to back display panels with complementary airflow systems.
