The resilient mount 20, 120, 220 has a frame 21, 121, 221 that is moveable by an actuator 42, 142, 242 relative to a structural member 8, 300 of a motor vehicle 1 in an opposite direction to a predicted displacement of the connecting arm 30, 130, 230 so as to reduce the displacement of the powertrain component 4, 5 relative to a fixed point on the motor vehicle 1 when the predicted displacement occurs. This reduces the final displacement of the powertrain component 4, 5 relative to a fixed point on the motor vehicle 1 when the predicted displacement occurs and allows the use of a softer resilient mount 20, 120, 220 than would otherwise be the case.
