A brake pedal device has: a brake pedal (6) supported so as to be rotatable about the central axis of rotation (X) provided on a pedal bracket (3) affixed to a vehicle body; and a link member (4) rotatably connected to the brake pedal at a connection section (5). The link member is provided with: a master cylinder connection section (44) connected to a master cylinder (9) through a push rod (8); a striking section (43) striking against a part of the vehicle body due to a frontal collision of the vehicle; and an engagement section (42) engaging with the brake pedal and disengaging toward the front of the vehicle due to the striking of the part of the vehicle body against the striking section. The brake pedal device is characterized in that the connection section is located on the line of extension of the push rod from the master cylinder connection section.
