A system for reducing torsional oscillations in a vehicle drive train of a hybrid vehicle is described. The vehicle drive train is coupled to a combustion engine and an electrical engine. The combustion engine generates a first series of torque pulses and the electrical engine generates a second series of torque pulses. The torque pulses of the combustion engine and the torque pulses of the electrical engine are applied to the drive train and are directed in the same sense of direction. As if the numbers of cylinders of the piston engine was increased, at least one torque pulse generated by the electrical engine is generated chronologically between two subsequent torque pulses of the combustion engine. The electrical engine can support or perform the compressing phase of at least one of the cylinders.
