A mounting structure for a vehicle impact sensor comprising: a front bumper with a body panel, a substantially rigid protrusion (15) forming part of the body panel and extending from an inner surface (37) of the body panel in a direction of an anticipated impact input, a vehicle impact sensor (3), and a mounting bracket (23) attached to the protrusion (15) and retaining the vehicle impact sensor (3). The mounting structure is arranged such that when an impact force is applied to an outer portion of the body panel in the direction of the anticipated impact input, the impact force is transmitted through the protrusion (15) and the mounting bracket (23) to the impact sensor (3).
