The invention relates to a bicycle stand (10) comprising a frame (30); a support part connected to the frame (30), which is configured to support at least a wheel of a bicycle (100) that is or is to be parked, and which is provided with at least two upwardly extending support elements (5A,5B) configured to engage either side of the bicycle (100) that is or is to be parked. The bicycle stand (10) further comprises translation means configured to translate the support part, including the bicycle (100) that is or is to be parked thereon, in a substantially horizontal translation direction between an extended position and a retracted position relative to the frame (30). Pivot means are provided for pivoting the support part about a pivot axis parallel to the horizontal translation direction.
