The invention relates to a tyre for a vehicle, in particular a winter tyre, the tread of which comprises a rubber composition that is heat expandable in the unvulcanised state and expanded in the vulcanised state. In the unvulcanised state, the composition comprises at least one diene elastomer, such as natural rubber and/or a polybutadiene, more than 50 phr of a non-black reinforcing filler, such as silica, optionally less than 3 phr carbon black, 2 to 25 phr of an expansion agent, such as potassium or sodium (hydrogen) carbonate, 2 to 25 phr of a hot-melt compound having a melting temperature between 60° and 220°C, such as citric acid, and 5 to 50 phr of a photocrosslinkable liquid polymer resin, such as a poly(butadiene-acrylate) or poly(butadiene-methacrylate) resin. The combination of these different compounds at the recommended levels greatly enhances tyre grip on ice.
