A trigger assembly for a coupling member, and in particular for a tow ball 1, comprises a housing 2 and a shuttle in the form of an elongate bolt 8. The shuttle 8 is received within the housing 2 and is movable between a first position and a second position relative to the housing. The assembly also comprises coupling balls 18 which are movable between a stowed position and a deployed position, under action of the shuttle 8 moving to the second position. The trigger assembly further comprises a plurality of latch members 20 distributed about the shuttle, each latch member 20 being independently movable from an engaged configuration, in which the latch member 20 retains the shuttle 8 in the first position, to a released configuration, in which movement of the shuttle 8 to the second position under the action of a spring 12 is permitted. The invention is aimed at preventing accidental unlatching.
