A method for the production of a structural component, in particular a structural component (1, 101) adapted for use as a stiffening component in an aircraft or spacecraft structure. A hollow initial profile (4) comprising a wall (5) which follows a closed path (6) in a cross-section of the initial profile (4) is formed. The wall (5) is formed with a first (7a), a second (7b) and a third section (7c) provided along the closed path (6) in such a manner that, in the direction of the closed path (6), the second section (7b) is provided between the first (7a)and third sections (7c). In a further step, material initially forming part of the wall (5) in at least one first region (11, 111) of the initial profile (4) is removed, so as to obtain at least one first opening (12, 112) in the at least one first region (11, 111). The at least one first opening (12, 112) is formed so as to extend at least partially within the first section (7a). The formation of the at least one first opening (12, 112) is performed in such a manner that material initially forming part of the wall (5) in the first section (7a) of the initial profile (4) and remaining after the formation of the at least one first opening (12, 112) forms at least one stabilizing section (13, 113). The at least one stabilizing section (13, 113)connects the third section (7c) and the second section (7b) or the third section (7c) and at least one portion (15, 115) of the second section (7b) that is associated with the at least one stabilizing section (13, 113).
