The invention relates to a tire tread comprising a rubber composition for a groove reinforcement (30) in the tire tread (10), the tire tread (10) comprising a plurality of circumferential grooves (20). The rubber composition comprises at least one rubber component; between about 50 phr and 120 phr of a filler, wherein at least 20 phr of the filler is a high surface area carbon black; and between 10 phr and 30 phr of a phenolic resin. The groove reinforcement (30) extends on one side of a said groove (20) further in the radial direction than on the other side of that groove (20).
