The present invention relates to a method for producing electrical energy in vehicles by means of at least one generator (10), by means of which kinetic energy can be converted into electrical energy with the help of at least one transmission means (100) connected to the generator (10). The method according to the invention is characterized in that the kinetic energy produced by the deformation of one or more tires (110) which is produced during movement of the vehicle is converted into electrical energy by means of the at least one generator (10) with the help of the at least one transmission means (100), which electrical energy is fed to at least one energy store and/or drive. This is accomplished, according to the invention, preferably by means of a device which comprises at least one generator (10) of this type, the at least one transmission means (100) being disposed in a tire (110) of a vehicle wheel (11), by means of which at least one transmission means the kinetic energy produced by deformation of the tire (11) which is effected in the region of the at least one transmission means (100) is transmitted to the generator (10).
