The invention relates to a method for mounting a drive shaft assembly (1), comprising at least a first shaft (37) and a displacement unit (35), which are connected to each other, to a motor vehicle (4) between a first connection point (2) and a second connection point (3), wherein the drive shaft assembly (1) can be connected to the first connection point (2) by means of a first end (5) on the first shaft (37) and can be connected to the second connection point (3) by means of a second end (6) on the displacement unit (35); wherein at least of the first end (5) and the first connection point (2), one is designed as a pin (7), which at least partially has a first set of splines (9) on an outer circumferential surface (8), and the other is a joint inner part (10) of a constant velocity rotary joint (11), wherein the joint inner part (10) has a receptacle (12) for the pin (7), which receptacle has a second set of splines (13) on an inner circumferential surface (14); and the method comprises at least the following steps: i. arranging the pin (7) in front of the receptacle (12); ii. sliding the pin (7) into the receptacle (12) beyond the operating position (15) and displacing the drive shaft assembly (1) in a first direction (16); iii. arranging the second end (6) at the second connection point (3); iv. sliding the pin (7) back and displacing the drive shaft assembly (1) in a second direction (17) such that the pin (7) and the receptacle (12) are arranged in the operating position (15) in relation to each other; and v. connecting the second end (6) to the second connection point (3).
