A method of providing thermal contrast therapy for a vehicle occupant. The method includes operating the heating device for a first time to apply a first temperature for a first period of time, and operating the heating device and the cooling device again in an alternating manner over a plurality of time intervals. Thermal contrast therapy varies the seat surface temperature by about 10 DEG C to 20 DEG C, and/or varies the skin temperature of the vehicle occupant by about 3 DEG C to 6 DEG C.
