The compressed air supply device has a compressor, an air dryer unit and a regeneration valve device and is operated in an operating mode having a transport phase and a regeneration phase. According to the invention, in the compressed air system, a current humidity, for example a relative or absolute humidity, is determined, a current dew point difference (c-DPD) is determined from the determined humidity, and the dew point difference (c-DPD) is determined from the determined dew point difference (c-DPD). According to the invention, a target dew point difference (t-DPD) is ascertained on the basis of the current and/or predicted ambient temperature data (T0, T (t)) and/or on the basis of the current and/or predicted vehicle operating data, and the target dew point difference is compared with the current dew point difference (c-DPD), and then the operating mode and/or the regeneration phase are adjusted and/or changed on the basis of the comparison.
