The invention provides an electric capstan capable of being used in a hanging mode, the electric capstan comprises an electric motor (1), a winch drum (2) and a gear speed reduction structure (7) which are coaxially arranged in sequence, a first vertical supporting plate (15) and a second vertical supporting plate (16) rotatably support the winch drum (2), a rotating shaft (39) of the electric motor (1) is connected with an electromagnetic brake structure (6), and the rotating shaft (39) is used for driving the gear speed reduction structure (7) to rotate at the same time. The transmission shaft (17) and the winding drum (2) are coaxially sleeved; the first upward extension part (15.1) and the second upward extension part (16.1) are oppositely inclined and close to each other to form an inverted V shape, and the tail ends of the first upward extension part (15.1) and the second upward extension part (16.1) are connected with a hook (5); the gear speed reduction structure (7) and the electromagnetic brake structure (6) serve as components of a brake scheme at the same time; according to the electric capstan, the load capacity is improved, and the safety is high.
